Project Description Country: USA Location: Santa Fe Springs Total Budget: $2,200 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: General Summary: School supplies provided to local schools Our Club purchases 200+ backpacks embossed with the Rotary Logo and school supplies for distribution by club members and the City of Santa Fe Springs to underserved middle, junior high and high school students. The club has co-opted with SFS Social Services for several years. Our members purchase the items and have a work day Rotary lunch meeting where club members pack the backpacks that we have purchased with pens, pencils, paper, rulers, markers, calculators, etc. We join the city and other community members to pass the full backpacks to the students prior to the start of the school year. The Club has been recognized each year at a SFS City Council meeting. All activities are in compliance with current Covid-19 restrictions. Addendum to Project Description (added after the project was signed) 216 Rotary International Logo'd backpacks and school supplies were purchased at a cost of $2,720.16.
