Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Western Treasure Valley

Total Budget: $1,543

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

Activity Type: Education: Literacy

Summary: Dictionaries for approximately 620 - 3rd graders residing in the Western Treasure Valley

According to Dictionary Project Educators third grade is seen as the dividing line between learning to read and reading to learn. WTV Rotary wants to give third graders dictionaries, an essential tool to assist students in receiving a quality education.

We anticipate we will be working with 14 schools in the WTV representing 26 classrooms and approximately 620 third grade students. The project funds will pay for the dictionaries and the Rotary 4 Way Test bookplates posted on the first page of each dictionary. In addition to the" A Students Dictionary" we will also be distributing the "Webster's

Spanish/English Dictionary" for Hispanic Students.

For the 2021-2022 school year the Club will once again work with school administration to determine the best delivery method for each individual school.
