Project Description Country: USA Location: Romeoville, IL Schools Total Budget: $2,600 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Provide every 3rd and 4th grader in Romeoville a Dictionary Provide every third and fourth grader a dictionary as part of the Dictionary Project. The goal of this program is to assist all students in becoming good writers, active readers, creative thinkers, and resourceful learners by providing them with their own personal dictionary. The dictionaries are a gift to each student to use at school and at home for years to come. Educators see third grade as the dividing line between learning to read and reading to learn, so we encourage our sponsors to give dictionaries each year to children in the third grade. The club has done this project for many years, but due to Covid was not able to distribute dictionaries during the 20-21 school year. The club will catch up with the 3rd grade (now 3th grade) students during the 21-22 school year.
