District 6 School Kick Off

History Logs

Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Greeley, Colorado

Total Budget: $5,000

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

Activity Type: Education: General

Summary: Redeye's contribution, along with matching grant funding will purchase 300 (of the total 5000) backpacks with school supplies included. Redeye membership will participate in the Kick-off Event by volunteering in the backpack distribution to students.

Greeley-Evans School District 6 is a 23,000-student public school district that serves a diverse population. More than 60 percent of the students in District 6 qualify for free and reduced lunch. At some schools, more than 90 percent of students qualify for meal assistance. Greeley Redeye Rotary is a strong supporter of children, literacy and education. We have enjoyed a great partnership with District 6, and would like to continue to support this very important organization in our community. We are asking for matching grant funds to support the annual School Kickoff Community Celebration, which will be held August 7, 2021 at Island Grove Regional Park. With the grant, District 6 will be able to purchase 300 backpacks filled with school supplies to give out to students registered to attend school in the district. In addition, Greeley Redeye Rotarians will volunteer at the event, helping to hand out more than 5,000 total backpacks to children who attend school in District 6, grades preschool through 12th. These supplies are essential to students and their families, who may otherwise be unable to purchase the needed supplies to start the school year. As part of this sponsorship, Greeley Redeye Rotary will also be able to host an informational booth at the event, and will have the Rotary logo on all marketing materials, banners at the event, advertisements, social media posts, website posts and volunteer T-shirts.

The club has a project P-2561 that is over two years old and not closed. In order to close it the final report found at the following address https://rotary5440.org/sitepage/grants about 3/4 way down the left side must be completed, signed and uploaded along with copies of receipts to the documents area of that grant.

Your 21-22 club President needs to take grant qualification training before this grant can be approved. If they go to this address https://rotary5440.org/sitepage/club-qualification they can pull upi the needed training.
