Summary: Purchase warm clothing in December for 40+ needy children, and hold holiday party with gifts and luncheon.
Rotary Club of La Mirada has been conducting this program for more than 30 years. There are always needy families that we assist through a food pantry 3 times per year. Illnesses, deaths, unemployment and homelessness all contribute to this need. This is a chance to focus on the needs of the children, providing them warm new clothing that improves their self-esteem, showing them that someone cares, and enabling them to do better in school. All club members and dozens of volunteers, including Sheriff's and Firefighters, assist with Clothes for Kids. Funds purchase $100 of clothing per child and wrapped gifts at a holiday party with Santa Claus and a luncheon provided by Chick-fil-A. Children get pictures taken with a fire truck and ride a bus to the La Mirada Activity Center for the party.
