Community Development: Volunteer Services
Summary: Hartsdale Greenburgh Rotary to create Caring Cupboard Food Pantries in Greenburgh, NY
The Hartsdale Greenburgh Rotary will partner with Bridging Dots, and the Theodore Young Community Center, to combat food insecurity in Westchester by engaging stakeholders in the town of Greenburgh in creating 'Caring Cupboards,' food pantries placed strategically around town that also provide direct food deliveries/drop-offs to those in need of support. Our partnership has identified @ 500 people with immediate need, and funds received will be spent on food and health care items that will meet those needs over a 12-month period.
Bridging Dots is a group of high-school age volunteers, and the Community Center has a long history of mentoring this age group -- together, our efforts will increase engagement of our young people in community service, in a collective partnership with the Town that will continue and grow the project going forward. We anticipate that eight of our club members will be active in the project.
