Project Description Country: USA Location: Fort Collins, CO Total Budget: $5,000 Area of Focus: None Activity Type: Health: General Summary: Rams Against Hunger, a CSU program working to enhance food security, is seeking funds to repair the facility's walk-in cooler ($4K), to purchase resuable grocery bags ($1K), and to obatin Rotarian volunteer help to prepeare for student's return in the fall Rams Against Hunger, a dynamic program working to enhance food security among the CSU community, is seeking a $5,000 Rotary grant for the following opportunities: (1) $3,684 to 4,000 to fortify the epoxy seal in the walk-in cooler (see current quote in documents section) in the RAH facility (food safety compliance) (2) $1,000 to $1,316 (remainder after cooler repair) to purchase reusable grocery bags as a sustainable option for students and staff to transport food from the RAH facility. The bags are priced at $1.09 ea. They serve around 350 folks each week but ask that their guests re-use them. Over the course of the year, they anticipate that serve around 2,000 unique visitors. In addition, RAH requests Rotary volunteers on a one-time or recurring basis. Given the expansive nature of our food security services, there will be many ongoing opportunities to volunteer. Two promising opportunities include: (1) Mobile Food Pantry distribution and (2) Pantry reorganization and cleaning.
