Project Description Country: USA Location: Eagle, Idaho Total Budget: $3,500 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Dictionary Project for Eagle-Garden City & Meridian 3rd Grade Classes The Rotary Club of Eagle-Garden City, at the beginning of the school year will order special student dictionaries from The Dictionary Project that also include facts about the world and the United States. Rotarians from our club will deliver these dictionaries to the students in classrooms of third graders for free to eleven (or more) different elementary schools in our service area. Each dictionary will have a label inside allowing the third grader to identify the book as their own personal book and a Rotary bookmark. It is an important step to suppor education and literacy of young people in our community. We will order 35 cases of 24 books each for a total of 840 books at $4 per book for a total of $3360.00 plus $60 for Rotary Bookmarks and $100 for Labels and Printing (estimated). Area Schools who benefit: Eagle Hills Elementary, Eagle Elementary, Galileo Math & Science, Seven Oaks Elementary, Rolling Hills Charter School (combining with Northstar Charter School this fall), Pierce Park Elementary, Shadow Hills Elementary, Star Elementary, River Valley Elementary & Pepper Ridge Elementary. Your signature on a signature request to follow this email will confirm your acceptance of the reduced amount. This is a tier 3 grant application, and the total budget for the project cannot be reduced. Your club will need to make up the difference per the district's terms for tier 3 grant applications. The Rotary Club of Eagle-Garden City then labeled and delivered 870 dictionaries to 10 schools during September and October 2025. Dictionaries included a label showing our Rotary club name and a place for students to put their names.
