Project Description

Country: USA

Location: El Cajon

Total Budget: $3,000

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

Activity Type: Education: Literacy

Summary: Support reading program for the Boys & Girls Clubs of East County by providing 'Club Bucks' for reading rewards.

The Power Hour/ Rabid Readers program at the El Cajon Clubhouse encourages students to silently read or complete their homework for a minimum of 20 minutes a day after school. Members are awarded "Club Bucks" as an incentive for the minutes they spend completing those activities each day. The "Club Bucks" can be exchanged for prizes, toys and treats at the Club Bucks store. This support and guidance greatly contributes to the childs education progress as often they may not be able to get this support at home.

The Rotary Club of El Cajon has supported this project for many years.
