Project Description Country: Ehiopia Location: East Wollega Zone-Oromia Total Budget: $4,006 Area of Focus: Water, sanitation and hygiene Activity Type: Water: Supply/Access Summary: Proposed project to provide a reliable and safe water supply for domestic use and other essential activities for communities residing in villages surrounding the Laga Kibi spring. The Laga Kibi Water Project is a natural spring development initiative designed to provide clean and safe drinking water to communities residing in the rural village of Gandaa Hindhee. The spring has served as a water source for the local community for an extended period. The location is not suitable for construction of a convenient water collection point due to unfavorable topographic conditions. To improve accessibility, the project includes the installation of a pipeline extending approximately 100 meters downstream from the source. This will enable a safer, more accessible downstream water source. It will enhance the reliability of the water supply and improve the overall living conditions of the nearby community. The springs is located in Jimma Arjo District of East Wollega Zone, 45 km in northwest Nekemte City. *** Spring water users Population - Rural village Beneficiaries: Female = 843, Males = 675, Total Population = 1518 *** Sponsoring partnership: Sheridan Rotary Club and the Fort Collins Breakfast Club.
