Irvine Rotary and UCI Rotaract collaborate with Orange County Fire Authority, Irvine Police, Irvine CERT Emergency Personnel, City of Irvine, Rotaract, local paramedics and local nurses and medical practioners in other Rotary clubs to provide life saving first aid techniques to stop bleeding in the event of a traumatic injury including tourniquet use and bandaging techniques. High School students practice on mannequins and live volunteers. Students are introduced to Rotary and volunteer opportunities with Interact and Rotaract by District representatives. The training is followed by assembly of first aid and disaster kits by Rotarians and high school students for donation to low income families via the South County Outreach food bank. Funds used to buy disaster and first aid supplies
