Project Description Country: Mexico Location: Aqua Prieta Total Budget: $5,000 Area of Focus: Community economic development Activity Type: Community Development: General Summary: This project, in concert with Interact of Steamboat Springs and Rotary Club Aqua Prieta, Mexico will fund infrastructure and equipment to support efforts to feed the homeless, poor families and elderly in Aqua Prieta, Mexico. Members of the Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs and Steamboat Springs High School Interact Club have a long history of annual visits to Aqua Prieta, Mexico in partnership with Rotary Club Aqua Prieta to undertake an annual service project during January. It is an opportunity for both members and high school students to meet their counterparts in an economically challenged area of Mexico south of Arizona and to see their efforts positively impact lives firsthand. Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs and Steamboat Springs High School Interact Club assisted Maria Hernandez upgrade equipment for food service to the needy and homeless in Aqua Prieta, Mexico in 2026. Interact Club was able to assist in Maria's facility during their visit in 2026. This is a joint project with Rotary Club Aqua Prieta. During 2026-2027, our club would like to continue this project assisting with building of a more permanent infrastructure shelter and upgrading of tables, chairs and equipment. This will allow Missionary of Love to be more sustainable and protected from the elements. Interact Club will assist in any way they can with these upgrades during their planned visit to Aqua Prieta in January, 2027. -This project will provide further economic development to an organization playing a vital role in feeding the homeless, elderly, and poor families in Aqua Prieta, Mexico -This project will further strengthen Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs relationship with Rotary Club of Aqua Prieta and provide members from both clubs an opportunity to engage in this valuable international service project. -This project will provide Steamboat Springs Interact Club members the opportunity to engage in an international service project and interact with their peers in Aqua Prieta, Mexico -This project is part of an ongoing and sustainable relationship between Rotary Club of Steamboat Springs and Rotary Club Aqua Prieta which has been in place for many years to benefit the Aqua Prieta, Mexico community.
