Project Description Country: USA Location: San Diego Total Budget: $2,200 Area of Focus: Community economic development Activity Type: Community Development: General Summary: Community aid for seniors and underserved residents in South Bay and greater San Diego This project provides community assistance and engagement to underserved residents in South Bay and greater San Diego, through a partnership between the Filipino Press, Buy Filipino Network (BFN) members, BFN Ladies, and the Rotary Club of Sweetwater San Diego (RCSSD). BFN strengthens local small businesses, which in turn helps uplift the broader community. The Filipino Press also plays a vital role by printing and distributing newspapers that many seniors rely on-especially those who are not comfortable with technology and cannot access online information. Rotarians and partner volunteers collaborate in planning, organizing, and distributing essential supplies during outreach events. The project is supported by a Rotary District 5340 matching grant, for a total funding amount of $2,200.
