Rotary Club: Downtown San Diego Project Title: Logan Heights Playground 1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place? Logan Heights Community Development Corporation (LHCDC) Future Achievers Preschool playground equipment will be purchased to promote three types of play for the pre-school age children who attend the Future Achievers Pre-School, including large motor, socio-dramatic and constructive play. LHCDC will also hold two in-service training sessions to orientate the teachers to the use of the new playground equipment and incorporate it into the curriculum. 2. How many people benefited from this project? 26 children plus community 3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met? Future Achievers Preschool focuses on providing socio-economically challenged kids with the opportunity to succeed, by giving them a jumpstart to education using STEAM. LHCDC currently serve 26 children, five of whom come from military families. The children range in age between two and five years. 4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? Partnership between Community Services and Youth Services. 5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project. This project was supported by Community Services Committee, Youth Services Committee, and even a Rotarian's own condo association (in providing material for the ground at the facilities). Unfortunately due to Covid, while approximately 5 people were able to meet in person and tour the facilities, associated hands on activities were postponed. 6.
