Rotary Club: Solana Beach Project Title: Environmental Health Coalition 1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place? The training provided education on how to advocate for Food Justice in their communities using planning steps in crafting the message to educate community members in bringing resolutions to the inequities in supply of availability of healthy foods in their communities, educating on healthy food options and how to prepare by Olivewood Gardens. The trainings were conducted in English and Spanish over Zoom in the evenings on the following dates. 9.28.21: Leadership 10.5.21: Environmental Justice 10.12.21: Asthma & National City Video Tour 10.19.21: Housing & Barrio Logan Video Tour 10.26.21: Climate Justice & City Heights Tour 11.2.21: Food Justice by Olivewood Gardens 11.9.21: Messaging Our Stories 11.16.21: Graduation; 21 EHC community members completed and 21 Olivewood Gardens Community Members completed: Total 42 2. How many people benefited from this project? 42; 21 from EHC 3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met? Disadvantaged San Diego community members were supported with meals and education while they attended 7 training sessions. In addition, instruction on healthy recipes was provided which will be shared with families in the community. Educated on how community members who are impacted by lack of availability and cost can advocate in their commmunities. Educated on healthy food options and while training was conducted participants were feed healthy food options. 4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? 1 5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project. I have been in contact with EHC throughout the training sessions which were held on Zoom. We continue to stay connected and had EHC attend our club meeting held on Zoom (2/8/2022) where the topic was Environmental Health. EHC shared their work with our presenter from the California Natural Resource Agency, Moises Moreno-Rivera, Assistant Secretary for Equity and Environment Justice. The trainings were held via Zoom and there were not social media posts at the time, they will share the results of the advocacy and will continue to share social media outcomes as a result. I will continue to connect and share these through our social media. I am working to attend their meetings which has been challenged by Covid. 6. If a cooperating organization was involved, what was its role? Olivewood Gardens, food justice, preparing meals, educating on healthy food options and how to grow your food. 7. Income
