Project Description

Region: South America

Country: Uruguay

Location: Rivera

Total Budget: $57,000

Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment

The Hospital: The Hospital of the City of Rivera, provides general assistance to an estimated population of approximately 300,000 people, taking into account residents in the city, inside the Department and in opportunities of neighboring departments, as well as the neighboring city of Santana do Livramento of Brazil, which often, for reasons of lack of supplies, sends its patients to the Hospital de Rivera.therefore he performs all kinds of attention, from guard and emergency, general medicine, specializations such as cardiology, radiology, pediatrics, gynecology, imaging, etc.-

Project Objectives: To grow in quantity and technical quality, with the acquisition of new technologies, accompanied by continuous training according to the needs and dynamics of the service, in order to provide our users with comprehensive and excellent quality.-

Proposal: Acquisition of a larger ultrasound to increase the number and variety of studies to be performed, using more complex techniques, through reliable, effective and safe products.-

Rationale: The acquisition of a larger ultrasound scanner will increase the portfolio of studies, improving and accelerating the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases, which are the major cause of death in our population, as well as myocardial infarction and atherosclerosis of vessels that lead to serious and costly illnesses if they are not diagnosed early.these studies are currently carried out in diagnostic centers away from our Department for them with the consequent financial cost, which in many cases patients with low resources can not afford them.-

Gynecological and obstetrical studies can be performed on pregnant women with the greatest precision, structural and fetal ultrasounds, which will allow the diagnosis of diseases in the fetuses that will result in the best health of the newborns.will also allow, for example, diagnosis of maternal uterine diseases and endometrial and ovarian cancer. This team will provide assistance to patients with very low resources, ASSE users, providing quality care and academic level comparable to that of the best diagnostic centers of the country avoiding the transfer to Montevideo (to 500 km.) that entails not only the uprooting but also the expenses for the families most economically deprived.

Sustainability: The management of the team will be performed by doctors and gynecologists who know the management and operation of the same.-

The supplier, at the time of delivery of the equipment makes the professionals a course of presentation of the equipment and access to the new technology.-

During this period, the Hospital will tender the maintenance, the cost of which is paid through the Hospital with funds from ASSE (Administration of Health Services). Health of the State).consequently, the financial partners are not necessary.-
