NEED ASSESSMENT FOR MEDICAL CENTER
• Village Pingori is located around 67 Kms from Pune. It is located around 12 Kms Jejuri a small temple town. The Village along with its few colonies and villages like Daundaj etc are located in the surrounding area of about 10 km. Radius. These areas do have any basic medical facility as there is no doctor in the area. The village and its surrounding area is mostly hilly terrain.
• Dr. Pande, being a medical professional, is helping the locals in every way he can whenever he is at Ela at Pingori for last 25 years where he has carried his field work.
• The Villagers of the nearby areas invariably reach out to him for consultation whenever he is in that area. After discussions with Dr Pande on the difficulties faced by local community, a survey was conducted in the surrounding areas with a sample size of about 250+ persons to understand the present state of their health care and possibility of opening a health care near their village. The survey indicated willingness and earnestness of the local population to get the medical facility at concessional rates. A meeting with the villagers was also conducted to understand the community's needs and their participation. The survey also indicated that the villagers have to travel at least 5 -10 km. for basic medical facility.
• After establishing the need, Ela and RCPW went ahead to construct jointly a Rural Medical Health Centre on the Ela Foundation premises at Pingori at an estimated cost of INR 5.5 Million. The total area is around 2700 Sqft and 900 Sqft. The construction is being completed with own funds of ELA and RCPW and is progressing at fast pace, it will be ready by end of May 2018.
