Sparsh Hospice is the first Hospice and Palliative Care centre in the city of Hyderabad, India. We have been taking care of "Terminally Ill' cancer patients for the last 6 years in a 12 bed facility. Over this period we have cared for over 1500 patients. The cancer burden is huge in India and according to World Health Organization (WHO), we have 10,00,000 new cases of cancer diagnosed each year, of which over 60% are terminal requiring 'Palliative Care'. When a patient is beyond curative treatment, the focus in a hospice is relieving symptoms (like pain, nausea, vomiting, breathlessness, etc) and elevating the mood and make the last few weeks comfortable for the patients and their families. All these facilities and food and medicine are free to the patients.
We have recently been allotted one acre land by the government in which we are building a 70 bed modern, eco-friendly Hospice to cater to more patients. This project is budgeted at $ 1.5 million and will be completed by May 2019. We want to apply for a Global Grant for the equipment which will be about $ 300,000. We are seeking clubs to partner with us in this project. All our club members are actively involved in this effort and many of our Annes volunteer at Sparsh Hospice.
We are looking for a Club partner. Click here to pledge support for this project. Recording a pledge will make you the Primary International Partner for this project.
Project Status
Dropped
This project has been "Dropped". Check the history log entries to see why it was dropped.
Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
