Our project is about getting the ophthalmology area up to date at the Children's Hospital "San Roque", providing new equipment, doing some rehab to the existing area and making it possible to have two offices, so two doctors can work at the same time keeping the privacy of the patients.
About the equipment, we want to provide the following items: ophthalmic test boxes, plastic half mounts, a Perkins hand tonometer, a portable slit lamp, ophthalmologic ultrasound, an ophthalmoscope, a portable binocular autorefractometer, an optotype projector, a box for squint surgery, notebooks and printer
This hospital is the only children's hospital in the province, where all severe cases get transferred. The ophthalmologists see about 45 children each day, without taking into account emergencies. It is one of the areas at the hospital that has the largest number of patients.
Some of the equipment that we are going to provide is portable, so it will be easier for doctors to go to the infant/child's room to examine him/her. Some other things will make it possible to have two separate offices without the doctors having to share the equipment while seeing patients.
And the rehab will improve the precarious conditions that area has at the moment.
