Building Smiles

The Association of Rehabilitation and Social Integration of Congenital Malformation Carriers of Face of Ceará - Beija Flor Association, enrolled with CNPJ 04.875.653 / 0001-75, located at Alberto Craveiro Avenue, 2222, CEP: 60.861-212 - Castelão District / Fortaleza -CE, founded on December 17, 2001, is a philanthropic, non-profit, charitable, cultural and social defense institution with the following titles: Public State Utility (Law No. 15,336, April 12, 2013 ), Municipal Public Utility (Law No. 10.249, October 23, 2014), Certificate of Regular Functioning, issued by the Public Prosecutor of Ceará, on July 24, 2014, registrations in the Municipal Council of Social Assistance (CMAS) and Municipal Council of Defense of the Rights of Children and Adolescents (Comdica).

The Beija Flor Association, has a macro project of health care, the Center for Rehabilitation of Face Deformities of Ceará - FUNFACE. This project brings in its scope the rehabilitation and habilitation of the person with cleft lip and palate. It is important to explain that a multidisciplinary team of Social Assistants, Psychologists, Speech Therapists, Otorhinolaryngologists, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Dentists, Orthodontists, Nutritionists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Anesthetists, Choral Professors, Crafts, among others, which are qualified in the abovementioned anomaly.

It is worth noting that FUNFACE's service is the only one in the State of Ceará that serves the person in adulthood. However, due to the precariousness of public services, we also serve children and young people, where we seek to reduce the consequences caused by the absence of public power, because there is still a large contingent of people with cleft lip and palate excluded from health policies and especially the right to rehabilitation. Therefore, we have 250 calls / month and 3,000 calls per year. These beneficiaries are distributed among the following age groups: children 0 to 12 years old (306), adolescents 13 to 17 years old (99) and adults (395), making a total of 800 patients. The same comes from the municipality of Fortaleza, interior cities, metropolitan regions and other states. However, we emphasize the need to acquire the nasofibroscope imaging equipment to perform the Nasofibroscopy exam, which has the function of accurately detecting the sequelae in speech (hypernasality) and alterations in the nasal cavity, such as such as nasal septum deviation, adenoid hypertrophy, sinusitis, among others, establishing a correct diagnosis and treatment of endless upper respiratory diseases. We emphasize that the National Health System (SUS) of Ceará does not have this device (Nasofibroscope), causing a great demand of patients, especially those most in need, to be eliminated from the right to treatment in a dignified manner. The acquisition of this equipment (Nasofibroscope), together with the Dental Chair, the Audiometer, the Immitanciometer, the adaptation to the existing physical space and the training of all the professional team that will operate and care for this set of equipment, is budgeted in R $ $ 137,000.00 or $ 36,350. All equipment and devices will be donated to the Association Beija Flor, above qualified, who will be responsible for the maintenance and storage of these goods. These equipments are essential for the continuity of the services, as they will be able to improve in a profitable, meaningful, efficient and effective way the treatment of these patients who are included in a very vulnerable socioeconomic situation and in the margin of their fundamental rights. For this project, we need an international partner to enter $ 13,350. The focus area of the project is: Prevention and treatment of diseases.
