Project Description Region: South America Country: Brazil Location: São Paulo Total Budget: $51,750 Area of Focus: Maternal and child health This project visa the purchase of an equipament that measures the deformities of the heart (ECO STRAIN). This measure is very important for better quantify the function of the heart. Children who suffers from cancer often receives drugs such chemoterapy that have some cardiac effects like miocardic depression. A better evaluation of the cardiac function of this population is very important in the management of this patients. ITACI (HC-FMUSP) is a hospital that cares of children with neoplasic diseases and pacients submitted to Bone marrow Transplantation. This hospital receives children from everyplace of Brasil, especially the critical ones. The physicians involved in this type of diagnosis are already trained.
