Project Description

Region: Asia

Country: India

Location: Lanthakkottai, Dindigul

Total Budget: $39,890

Area of Focus: Community economic development

Landhakottai is a under privileged village with many unemployed. As the prime vocation agriculture fails due to monsoon failure, many families are struggling for their live hood. Many families have low income due to unemployment. The men are moving to near by towns to work and earn for their family. However, due to lack of skill and travel distance to towns, women are ideal. Giving vocational training and creating employability to women, the economic conditions of the families will considerably increase. So, the proposal is to set up vocational training center(tailoring) and to set up stitching unit (to produce home textile articles) to create employability for the women got trained. The stitching unit will be managed by women along with youth in the village.

Training Centre will have 10 stitching machines.

The training centre and stitching unit will be financially self sustainable within 1 year from the start of project.
