Project Description

Region: South America

Country: Brazil

Location: Campos Belos

Total Budget: $38,317

Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment

This project aims to promote adequate, safe and healthy transportation to critically ill patients from Campos Belos city to other cities in the state of Goiás for emergency health treatment. Campos Belos is one of the most distant municipalities of the state capital, being 606 km from Goiânia - GO, 405 km from Brasília - DF and 438 km from Palmas-TO. With a population of approximately 20,000 inhabitants, public health has only 7 (seven) ambulances to transport its patients from one municipality to another. Being a pole city in the northeast region of Goiás, it serves patients from neighboring municipalities and even neighboring states, such as Tocantins and Bahia, since Campos Belos is a border city with the states of Tocantins and Bahia. Monthly, only the Campos Belos Municipal Hospital (HMCB) performs an average of 3,500 consultations. Campos Belos is the second largest city in the northeastern region of the state and, despite its low population, the city boasts the economic hub of the region, serving a large area of northeast Goiás and southeast of Tocantins. About 100,000 people from the cities around Campos Belos depend on their services. Because it is an inland city, many emergency treatments and care need to be transferred to large centers, mostly to Goiânia, the state capital. Thus, a Mobile ICU is of paramount importance to the municipality since currently these transfers are made in ordinary vehicles. The objective of this project is to acquire a Mobile ICU to be donated to the Municipal Health Fund, CNPJ nº 10.462.799 / 0001-91. The Municipal Health Fund manages the Campos Belos Municipal Hospital, 5 (five) Family Health Posts, a SAMU (Emergency Mobile Care Service) Support Base, Emergency Care Unit (UPA), and the Rehabilitation Center. It will be the responsibility of the Municipal Health Fund to provide qualified professionals to drive the vehicle, provide a medical professional to accompany transported patients, bear the costs of maintenance, fueling and vehicle insurance. Campos Belos has one of the lowest HDI (Human Development Index) in the state of Goiás, at 0.692, ranking 143rd out of a total of 246 municipalities in the state. With the use of a Mobile ICU, the treatment and transport of patients tested positive for COVID-19 will be more effective, safer and much more reliable. In addition, after the end of the pandemic, the equipment will continue to be of great importance for the city. Our small city has already 25 confirmed cases of COVID-19, on June 12. This project fits into the Area of Focus: Disease Prevention and Treatment.

Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
