Project Description

Region: North America

Country: Mexico

Location: Tijuana, Baja California

Total Budget: $43,000

Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment

The Rotary Club of Tijuana has always has supported the Rotary "Stop Polio" initiative as well as other health initiatives. In the coming Rotary year of 2020-2021 our President elect, Enrique Luviano, has made it a priority to support more well being initiatives within the Tijuana community especially since the poor in this community have difficulty accessing healthcare.

The health care focus this year will continue with Polio reduction, hepatitis detection campaign and the addition of diabetes and cancer awareness/detection.

Club Tijuana will partner with PRO ONCAVI A.C. whom have a successful record of working a multidisciplinary approach within the schools. In this method they reach students, teachers and parents. Their effectiveness has been measured at a rate of 2.3 for every dollar invested in the program- this translates to more people better understanding the underlying causes of chronic illness and how to affect better wellness.

Our goal is to raise awareness through a grant which will fund PRO ONCAVI to initial serve 400 children and their respective communities.

We look to you to assist our support of this important initiative.

Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
