Project Description Region: Africa Country: Nigeria Location: Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State Total Budget: $32,000 Areas of Focus: Basic education and literacy, Community economic development Ikelike Model Primary School is one of the oldest primary schools in Ogwashi-uku,Aniocha Local Government Area of Delta State. As a club, we intend to renovate the most dilapidated block (building) in this school. This block is made up of library, a computer laboratory, two offices and classroom, ALL empty. This Classroom can accommodate about fifty (50) Desks and chairs. Consequent to my club's book donation to this primary school, last year, we noticed they don't have a functional library to keep the books as well as given students assess to these books. Hence, the need for this project. The materials needed for this project are locally available. My club members made some donations which was used to flag-off the project. The total budget for this project is $32,000. so far, we have been able to raise $10,000 of the total budget. The raised funds was used to flag-off the project on the 27th May, 2020, with DGN Andy Uwejeren, Byron Unini and some rotary district leaders in attendance. (See attached photographs).With availability of funds, this project can be completed in three (3) months. After completion, this project is expected to be sustained by the school management, Local Council Development Area and Delta State Government. This can also be achieved by ensuring proper use of the facilities and to carry out maintenance, when the need arise. A committee will also be set to visit the facility from time to time (year in and out). The project funds would solely be used for the procurement of materials, complete fabrication of machines and transportation of machines to selected schools. My club members, particularly, Club foundation and Club project committees, would be fully involved in the project execution.These Rotarian would be involved in project funds management, procurement of building materials and supervision (monitoring) of contractor(s) and site workers. All these are for the purpose of achieving our goal. They are also expected to give weekly reports on the progress of the renovation exercise to Board of Directors.
