Project Description Region: Eastern Europe Country: Russia Location: 7 cities throughout Russi Total Budget: $42,000 Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment The needs identified are 1)for much greater availability of treatment and rehabilitation in provincial regions of Russia for children with cerebral palsy and 2)for help and traing of parents of these children to alleviate their challenging situation and to train them to treat and continue rehabilitation of their child. The Russian public health care system is woefully lacking in providing such services. This project is to provide a specialized piece of equipment, a "verticalizer", and to train rehabilitation specialists in its use and very specialized therapies for children with cerebral palsy in seven rehab centers throughout Russia. The goals of the area of focus which will be supported are 1)improving the capacity of local health care professionals and 2)providing clinical treatment and rehabilitation for physical disabilities. The timeline is late Sept 2021-June 2022. Club members in the various locales will be involved in monitoring the progress of the project and the proper use and application of funds and they will meet with the rehab specialists to keep track of patients' progress resulting from the new equipment and the training provided specialists in its use.
