This project will support immediate, basic human needs in Ukraine by increasing humanitarian aid capacity in local communities. Specifically, this project will focus on providing humanitarian aid to local NGOs that work with internally displaced people (IDPs).

Since the start of the Russia-Ukrainian War, nearly 11 million people have been forced to flee war zones and seek safety. These people are referred to as IDPs. The mounting task of addressing the psychological and basic needs of IDPs expands daily as local resources and services are overstretched and underfunded. Ukrainians have an immediate need for survival assistance; however, their own safety, livelihood, and capacity are threatened. It is critical to support local level Ukrainian organizations and empower local communities with humanitarian aid and support to address the growing IDP crisis.

The overall goal of this project is to empower grassroots NGOs to respond to the IDP crisis and provide the type of humanitarian aid support most needed in their communities. This grant will rapidly move funding directly to local NGOs, all of which are directly connected and identified with Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs) and/or Rotaractors and have the capacity to increase their response capabilities in support of IDPs.

The objectives of this project are to:

- Support the immediate humanitarian needs of IDPs in at least four local entities in 2022.

- Empower local communities to determine the most helpful and efficient use of humanitarian aid funding based on their own unique communities' needs assessment.

- Develop sustainable partnerships with the grantee communities, their Rotaractor, and Rotary International for ongoing evaluation and assessment of the impact of grant investment.

The beneficiaries of this project will be at least four Ukrainian communities, at least four local NGOs, and thousands of IDPs.
