Yamunadanda village located at Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-4 of Sindhupalchowk district, Nepal. The proposed project site is located 42 km away from the district headquarter, Chautara. Based on the data collected by municipality, there are 548 households (HHs) residing in these communities but the proposed project will reach to 335 households and serve around 1562 beneficiaries. Majority of the households in the communities belong to Brahmins and Chhetris ethnic group. The remaining HHs in the communities consist of 23 HHs are so called group and 50 HHs are from Tamang community with different economic and social status.
The sustainable management of water resources in these communities is highly recommended to provide each and every household with access to safe and clean water as envisions by 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals and 15th Periodic Plan of Nepal.
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the project are as follows:
1.To provide access to safely managed water supply and sanitation facilities to the communities of Yamunadanda
2.To bring behavior change in hygiene and sanitation of communities people through capacity building and awareness programs
The proposed project is in the high priority list of local government since the communities are exposed to high health risks because of contaminated and unsafe water use. The Local Government (LG) alone doesn't have sufficient budget to implement and carry out the entire project so respective LG is seeking external support from different agencies and foundations to accomplish the WSS work.
