In areas of the Philippines where there is no Pediatric Surgeon, children born with Imperforate Anus and Hirschsprung Disease are initially treated with a Colostomy and are referred to higher centers for definitive management by the age of two. Unfortunately, many do not return because of financial problems. The discomfort and social stigma of such colostomy thus keeps them away from school and from further gainful endeavors in the future.
The project is a Surgical Mission to provide needed surgery for identified children.
Surgery will be in 8-11 December 2023
Project funds will be to transport specialists, provide for accommodations/meals of mission team, Diagnostic work-up of patients, For medical, anesthesia and surgical supplies during the Surgical mission.
