Project Description Region: Asia Country: India Location: Nasik Total Budget: $93,375 Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment 1. Mobile Blood Donation Van will be used for blood donation camps where it will help to provide hygienic condition for collection of blood, ease of transport of collected blood with proper cooling and this will benefit the patients at large which are catered by Janakalyan directly or through its blood storage centres. Our current reach is to 250+ hospitals and 7 storage centres which covers geography of 6016 sq miles and population of 8.5 millions. It will also help us to provide fresh supply of blood components (Packed Cells, Plazma or RDP) to patients undergoing treatment for Thalassemia, cancer & other blood disorders. Currently, there are 580 notified Thalassemia patients in Nashik district. We are also catering to 4 major cancer hospitals . 2. Blood Bank Refrigerated centrifuge will be used for preparation of blood components from collected whole blood so as to provide quality blood components to patients according to treatment specific requirements instead of using whole blood every time for effective use of collected blood.
