Project Description Region: Asia Country: Nepal Location: Bardibas Total Budget: $79,000 Area of Focus: Water, sanitation and hygiene Khayarmara village is located at Bardibas Municiplaity-11,Mahottari,Nepal. The total population of this village is 1809 from 201 households. Majority of population are engaged in agriculture. Drinking water is one of the chronic problem of this village .People have to rely upon the nearby river for the drinking water which is dirty and non hygienic . People go to river side to collect water in the morning and the evening . Rotary club of Dhulikhel has identified the needs of drinking water and sanitation problem in this village . The drinking water source is 3km far away inside the dense forest and for the people it is almost impossible to reach there. People are often reported to suffer from water borne diseases . The condition become bad to worst during the monsoon season since due to flood in rivers it is too dangerous to go river side . Flood water is mixed with death animals , dirt and many more harmful items. This project support the population of 1809 from 201 households. 100% population of this project involved in agriculture and also spend most of the time in bringing the water . Project Activities 1.Construction of water tank at source 2.Construction of collection tank with filtration system 3.Digging and connecting the pipe from source to collection tank which is 3 Kms 4.Construction of 208 taps at 208 households. 5.Training on water and sanitation Rotary club members will be involved during need assessment, fundraising, project implementation.
