PROJECT OBJECTIVES:

Implement the contextualized teaching-learning strategy based on EDUCATIONAL ROBOTICS, stimulating the scientific vocations of the participating students.

THE PROJECT:

The contextualized teaching-learning strategy based on EDUCATIONAL ROBOTICS is a methodology developed by the UNIVERSITY OF IBAGUE, which is achieved through the identification of students who have the capacity for analysis, who, when applying the concepts of specialized education, are They train in ROBOTICS, while completing their final high school degrees, stimulating scientific vocations in the participating students. As a result, productive employment opportunities are created, improving access to sustainable sources of livelihood for young people who finish their high school cycle.

To date, since its implementation, more than 120 children in some municipalities of the department of Tolima have benefited from this teaching-learning strategy, through economic, physical and human resources and the collaboration of educational institutions.

With the PROMETEO PROJECT, training aimed at economic development will be provided to the affected communities, teachers and students, developing entrepreneurship skills, civic leadership, professional training and financial literacy. Likewise, the economic and employment potential of community members will be developed.

NEED:

The municipalities of Prado, Anzoátegui and Ibagué have great academic challenges in strengthening knowledge of STEM subjects, in the basic and secondary educational cycle. Furthermore, the need to encourage children's interest in science is evident, reduce the gap in educational quality between urban and rural areas and look for innovative alternatives to encourage educational innovation for both students and teachers, reinventing the way to learn and teach, in order to forge new leaders in the community and provide models of work entrepreneurship.

The beneficiaries of the PROMETEO PROJECT will be boys, girls and young people between grades eight to grade eleven from two educational institutions per municipality: PROMETEO CLASSROOMS FOR: PRADO, ANZOATEGUI AND IBAGUE, one rural and one urban; as well as teachers of science areas who are involved in the learning process. In total, +450 direct beneficiaries and around 300 indirect beneficiaries could be estimated, including the children's relatives and with a greater projection estimated in THOUSANDS, according to the scope of the projects that identify problems and solutions based on the needs of YOUR COMMUNITY using scientific solutions. with the development of new technologies based on ELECTRONICS, PROGRAMMING, MECHANICS AND ROBOTICS.

This project began to take shape in the municipality of Santa Isabel Tolima, since 2017, as an initiative of students from the University of Ibagué who identified the need to strengthen the mathematical and computational thinking skills of the academic community of said municipality.
