Mission projects in the Latin countries of Mexico and Costa Rica have encountered children having advanced and debilitating conditions requiring advanced procedures to be able to obtain total joint replacement surgery, release of total jaw ankylosis and further reconstructive facial procedures such as Cranio-Orthognathic reconstructions. This grant will allow purchase of specialized CranioMaxilloFacial instruments to treat underprivileged children with developmental and congenital deformities related to cleft lip and palate syndromes who live in the Latin American countries of Costa Rica and Mexico. This equipment would be purchased and delivered in time to implement its use for surgeries performed at the 4-5 mission clinics from November 2024 through the end of the year in 2025. Several Rotary Clubs will be participating in the missions held throughout the year in their locations in Costa Rica and Mexico. An estimated Rotarian involvement is 10-15 per club (approximately 40 Rotarians) providing volunteer meals, patient transportation and lodging, and pre-clinical advertising and scheduling logistics as well as postoperative care with utilization of the local Rotarian Doctors.
Need $5,000
This project needs to receive some pledges to go to the next level. Please check the "Financing" tab to see the list of current pledges. Once the amount pledged is equal to the project budget, the status of the project will be automatically changed to "Fully Pledged". Click here to pledge support for this project.
DDF contributions in grey are pending approval of the corresponding district committee.
Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
