The districts of Chimbote and Nuevo Chimbote are located in the province of Santa, one of the coastal areas of the region of Ancash, Peru. The approximate population of these 2 districts is 499,700. In Ancash, from 2016 to 2022, 754 traffic accident fatalities were reported and in 2022 alone 2369 non-fatal accidents were reported.
From 2017 to 2022 the crime rate varied from 102.6 to 145.2 per 10000 inhabitants. Police officers and members of public security who respond to these emergencies are faced with varying levels of injury and exposure to biological risk from exposure to potentially contaminated fluids, such as blood.
The objective of the project is to train 2055 participants (active police officers, students of the police non-commisioned officer school, citizen security, and civil defense personnel) for 3 years in:
- Prevention of HIV, tuberculosis, hepatitis B and C.
- Effective cardiopulmonary resuscitation in victims through training of the aid provider.
The cost per participant es 14.62 dollars. The cost total is 30 044 dollar.
Rotary Chimbote Buenos Aires will begin the training, which will then be assumed by the Nuevo Chimbote Police and the formation of an action group will be promoted to ensure the continuity of the project.
