According to the WHO in 2024, around 1 in 100 children has autism worldwide. Our government does not prioritize their healthcare, which leaves the mayority of ASD cases unattended.
Through interviews, panel debates and agreements with strategic alliances, our club has found that only 0.1% of the population of Selva Central have been PROPERLY DIAGNOSED of ASD by health professionals. This shows underdiagnosis and misdiagnosis of this condition. Adding to this, the teachers are not prepared to face the INCLUSION process of the ASD children and their families.
RC Chanchamayo proposes to make a Training Project for 08 Health and 08 Education professionals, which will enable them to perform proper diagnosis and a positive inclusion process that will help ASD children and their families.
In addition, we have considered to implement 03 sensorial rooms destined to assess and treat ASD children.
We plan the creation of Rotary Community Corps with the cooperation of the Angeles Azules Association. It is important to mention that both, health practitioners and teachers will commit to pass what they have learned to their colleagues.
Budget: $39,379.60
