There are 38 elementary schools in the San Juan Del Sur district in Nicaragua, all of which have few or no basic teaching and learning supplies. The children and the teachers are in need of books, crayons, pencils, markers, all kinds of paper, notebooks, backpacks and much more. Many of the schools need repairs such as painting, window replacement and latrines. Hand washing stations need to be installed in some of the schools and the children need to be taught the importance of basic hygiene. The newly remodeled library, where many of the children meet and classes are held is in need of tables, chairs and bookcases to make learning available and comfortable for the in-town children and others including adults who attend classes there. A group of Rotarians will arrive on February 6th,2016 and will spend a week visiting schools to deliver supplies and to assist in making repairs. A second group will arrive in March. We would also pay salaries for four Rural High School, Saturday School instructors at $450 per year.
