The grant would support the Robotics Team of San Pasqual High School, The SuperNURDS. Robotics allows students to develop a variety of expertise through hands-on experiences which relate to the real world through skills in science engineering, and business. Students on the Robotics Team also network with adults working in science, engineering, among other industries. Building Robotics inspires creativity and furthers their learning yet offers no grade or classroom credit. The team willingly sacrifices their free time purely for the experience and environment that the Robotics teams offer them.
The Robotics Team-The SuperNURDS-were asked to feature this program to every visiting 8th grader as this program is unique to San Pasqual High School. The SuperNURDS ran the Boy Scout's Robotics Merit Badge clinic for the past 3 years. This team also presented to summer school students Mira Costa College summer of 2013; and participated and won first place for non-motorized category at the Escondido Christmas Parade 3 years in a row. The SuperNURDS were invited to represent the team San Diego at the 2014 SLAS Conference and the 2015 Maker Fair!
In order for this program to continue the need for private funding is essential. San Pasqual High School is a Title 1 school. Title 1 status means that the school's population has 57% of student body are on free/reduced lunches. The Robotics program is offered free of charge to students to make it equitable to all students at San Pasqual. The majority of the population of students could not participate if there was a fee attached to this program.

Addendum to Project Description (added after the project was signed)
This project application was submitted March 5. The area of focus on the application was education and literacy. There was no criteria noted for literacy on the district application or District website. After attending the District Training Assembly March 19, 2016 the criteria for "literacy" was described as grades K-3 reading books for Title 1 schools. My application is no longer eligible for the additional $500 from District Matching Funds as well as the $500 from Escondido Rotary Club #915. I would like the amount of $7000 reduced to $6000 to comply with the criteria of the District Matching Funds program for 2016-2017.
Thank you,
