Project Description Country: USA Location: North Platte, NE Total Budget: $2,000 Area of Focus: Maternal and child health Activity Type: Food/Agriculture: Volunteer Services Summary: Fund and help deliver weekend food to needy children The North Platte public schools system has identified children who underperform at school due to inadequate nutrition. The "Backpack" program supplies food for the weekend to these children as they leave the school at the end of the week. Our sunrise Rotary Club would provide fund, $1,000 from the club and $1,000 from the District Grant to purchase the food. Club members would also assist in delivering the backpacks to the various schools. Stat at the beginning of the 2016 - 2017 school year and continue through the year.
