-The Verde Valley demographics reflect that approximately 50% of the community is 55 or over. Conversations with service organizations/non-profits (caregivers, senior center, etc) reveal a need of over 100 individuals in the area are in need of wheelchair ramps. In partnership with Verde Valley Habitat for Humanity individuals will be selected, ramps will be purchased and installed.
- Club Members working with VV Habitat for Humanity will install ramps at their homes. This will allow them to leave and return home using a safe ramp. This helps serve the needs of those returning home from medical care / stays. Essentially improving quality of life for these individuals by providing greater mobility to and from their living environment.
-Upon grant approval we anticipate up to three months to select individuals, 1 to 3 months to purchase and install the wheel chair ramps. Total project to be completed within 6 months.
- Project to have a total cost of $5,000 (4 ramps), DDF grant request of $2000 with the club contributing $2,000 (two rampd), and receiving additional contribution of $1000 from Habitat for Humanity for a total of $5,000. Up to 4 club members will work with V.V. Habitat for Humanity to install the ramps at the homes of these individuals as well as consider performing yard maintenance if needed. Club treasurer will manage the grant funds and a club member will create a photo article to be submitted to the newspaper that will reflect the project and recognize it was made possible by a Foundation Grant.
