Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Spring Valley

Total Budget: $10,500

Areas of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment, Economic and community development

Activity Type: Community Development: General

Summary: Noah Homes: Food Storage Room Renovation Plus Vision Care Project

This Project has two main components that aim to solve two areas of need at Noah Homes, our partner institution. First, Noah Homes urgently needs to renovate and expand its Food Storage Room for better shelving, in order to double the capacity to store food from local pantries and regular donations from local merchants. Noah would be able to accept new donations to control cost, and have better control of food rotation. $7000 will cover the cost of materials. Labor will be donated by the Building Industry Association. Second, most residents at Noah Homes need to be fitted with prescription glasses. The successful completion of a Vision Project for school children in Costa Rica has inspired our Club to repeat the experience at Noah. We will seek donation of frames; two of our Club members (Optometrists) will donate the services to perform the eye examinations and frame fitting; the remaining $3,500 will go toward the purchase of lenses which need to be done on an individual basis, in accordance to the need of individual residents.
