Project Description Country: USA Location: Mission Bay/Clairemont Total Budget: $1,054 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Dictionaries and/or Thesaurus books will be distributed to third graders at 2 Clairemont Elementary Schools, and 4 Mission Bay Elementary Schools The goal of this program is to assist third grade students to complete the school year as good writers, active readers and creative thinkers by providing them with their own personal dictionary and/or thesaurus. Books are delivered by Rotarians and Interact Club members in an assembly or classroom envirnment. Students are encouraged to use these materials to write a thank you note to the club. The thesaurus was added this year for title one schools (PB Elementary and Crown Point Elementary) that have specifically requested this resource. The involvement of our Interact Club provides a classroom link between the high school students and the elementary school close to their campus. We hope this encourages additional connections between the two schools as well as role models for the elmentary students.
