Project Description Country: USA Location: Fort Collins Total Budget: $1,500 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: General Summary: Painting and updates to children's classrooms at La Familia / The Family Center in Fort Collins Organization Benefiting: Since 1995, The Family Center/La Familia, a bilingual and multicultural organization, has provided services and advocacy in the Fort Collins community for the underserved and underrepresented, with the primary goal to strengthen and stabilize families with children. The Family Center/La Familia emerged from a coalition of Fort Collins community members concerned about maintaining and enhancing the quality of life for working families in Larimer County. The organization was established as part of Colorado's Family Initiative and, as a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization, maintains a focused vision to provide services that build stronger, safer families. http://thefamilycenterfc.org/ Needs Identified: Several of the children's classrooms at La Familia are in need of a refresh: cleaning, painting, etc. These classrooms are used for Early Childhood Education and Youth Enrichment Programs. Non-financial participation: Members of the Rotary Club of Fort Collins will be on site to complete the painting and cleaning project. Publicity: Notification, project description, and updates will be in our club's social media and internal communications. Timeline: The work will be scheduled at a convenient time for the classroom schedule at La Familia and when Rotarians are available to volunteer to complete the project. It is estimated that the work will take one day. Use of Funds: The funds will be used to provide materials for the painting, some specific items listed in budget. We have visited the center twice, taken measurements of rooms, discussed paint colors, and make estimates on volunteer hours needed and paint/supplies needed.
