The North JeffCo Library services well over 5,000 people in the three unincorporated rural communities of Jefferson City, Clancy, Montana City within Montana's North Jefferson County and operates primarily through grants, donations, and volunteers. The library has 3 drop boxes, badly in need of restoration, one located in each of the population centers. Additionally, the library's Children's Area is needing updates to its infrastructure and book selection.
The Rotary Sunrise Club of Helena and the North JeffCo Library Board, are requesting funding for the following: 1) sandblast and repaint three book drop boxes; 2) provide two child shelf display book racks; 3) provide a high-traffic children's area rug; and 4) overhaul the aged children's nonfiction book collection. These projects will help meet the literacy needs of the area's growing population of young families by maintaining necessary infrastructure and books, as well as providing an inviting environment for young children, fostering their desire for literacy.
In late summer and the fall of 2018, Library Board and Rotary Club members will uninstall and reinstall the three drop boxes in the course of having them repainted; order and install two Childcraft 5 Shelve Displays; order and install a high-traffic children's area rug; and purchase and catalog high-quality, up-to-date items for the 2018 and 2019 Reading Themes, including music, space, dinosaurs, technology, world geography/culture, and financial education.
A Rotary logo will be placed on the drop boxes and, where appropriate, on library materials.
