About 25 % of students in Chase County, Nebraska are English Language Learners, supported by low income parents. The project will help these students and others to learn vocabulary and enhance reading and comprehension. Our hope is to help 45 students in Imperial and 12 students in Wauneta in the fall of 2013 with the distribution of dictionary in September.
Addendum to Project Description (added after the project was signed)
On Tuesday December 10, 13 members of Imperial Rotary distributed 49 dictionaries to all third graders at Chase County Schools in Imperial, NE. We took 16 dictionaries to Benkelman, NE to hand out to the third grade students. We unfortunately had the wrong count to take dictionaries to the third grade students at Stratton, NE. Our club paid for 6 more dictionaries to take to Stratton. District 5630 paid $625 in District Designated Funds, and we paid $156 for the project. We did not take any of the dictionaries to Wauneta Palisade because a former Superintendent donated dictionaries to the students there.
