Summary: Provide Winter boots for students in need in Campbell County School District.
Gillette Energy Rotary members would like to continue our "Boots for Kids" project, so are applying for a District 5440 Governor's Grant. The club works with the administrative assistant to the Associate Superintendent for Instruction to reach out to school counselors concerning the number of students in need of winter boots, at their schools, mainly elementary schools. In 2019-20, the number of pairs of boots given to students was two hundred and twenty-nine. The number was a little low, and we would hope to reach more students this year. Because of the pandemic, the thought is that there may be more students in need. The Gillette Energy Rotary Club members will actually pick up the boots from Wyoming Work Warehouse and deliver them to the various schools. There are thirteen elementary schools, two junior high schools and three high schools in the district. The boots will go to any student in need at any of these schools.

This project is on-going. Due to a very mild winter, only ten pairs of boots had been issued by Feb. 1. However, it has now gotten colder and has snowed some, so we expect to be either delivering or having parents pick up boots the remaining winter months. Thank you

The project is complete for this year, but we asked Wyoming Work Warehouse to send us an invoice for $600 for Boots For Kids for next year. Because of a very warm winter, the children did not sign up to get their snow boots. This situation allowed us to work with the ware house to order $600 worth of boots for this coming winter. This actually makes this a two year project.
