Project Description Country: USA Location: Nampa, Idaho Total Budget: $816 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Four Hundred and eight dictionaries provided to 3rd grade students In Middleton including 20 juveniles incarcerated at the Idaho State Juvenile Correctional Center in Canyon County, Idaho Four Hundred and eight (408) dictionaries will be distributed to all 3rd graders in the Middleton School District and three charter schools with 3rd graders along with students incarcerated at the Idaho State Juvenile Correctional Center during October and November of 2013. These students have been identified as coming from middle to lower income households. Club members will personally hand-out dictionaries after prior arrangements have been made with the school principals and teachers. Rotarians will have an opportunity to discuss the "four-way test" and explain that the Dictionary Project and having students own their own dictionary is one of the goals of our club. Rotarians will also answer questions related to Rotary.
