In the current economy, there are many families that are struggling to purchase new winter coats for their young children. Many children outgrow their coats from the previous year and either wear a coat that is too small, too big or they wear nothing at all. There are major health concerns for children not having proper winter attire during the winter months in New York.
The South Shore Rotary Club would like to purchase and distribute $4,000 worth of new winter coats to needy children in Staten Island, NY. We will coordinate with organizations and schools in the area to identify the needy children who will be the recipients of the winter coats.
After the District Grant is approved, the South Shore Rotary Club will purchase the $4,000 worth of winter coats in one bulk order. Upon receipt of the coats, we will host one or multiple events to distribute the coats to the needy children prior to the end of 2023.
Addendum to Project Description (added after the project was signed)
$4,000 would allow the South Shore Rotary Club to purchase around 180 brand new children winter coats of various sizes. This project will provide around 180 needy Staten Island children comfort and warmth throughout the winter months. We have already spoken with organizations and schools on Staten Island that have children that are in desperate need of warm coats for the winter.
