Project Description Country: Ecuador Location: Illagua Total Budget: $2,500 Areas of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment, Water and sanitation, Maternal and child health Activity Type: Health: Disease Summary: Gas powered self contained hot water shower units to benefit the residents in the town of Illagua in Ecuador and surrounding area who currently cannot shower in winter. Funds would be used to purchase the self contained gas water heater shower units at a cost of $1,500 each. Currently the residents cannot take warm showers in the winter because there is no way to provide those. This leads to numerous diseases. Residents would pay a small fee to use the showers so that they could be maintained ongoing. Lorena Beckius from ogallala NE club has family in the club of Ambato, Ecuador. They will be able to monitor the ongoing use and needs of this project and community.
