Students without reading skills are more likely to drop out, qualify for only low-paying jobs, can't help their own children to read, and the cycle of illiteracy continues to another generation. Adults reading to children provide a positive role model and share an educational experience. Improving the literacy rates of these children is one step in breaking the cycle of generational illiteracy.
