Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Twin Falls

Total Budget: $2,800

Areas of Focus: Maternal and child health, Economic and community development

Activity Type: Community Development: Volunteer Services

Summary: New Outdoor Playhouse and mulch for entire play area for at risk children.

Currently the Crisis Center of the Magic Valley has a very old playhouse that the kids love, but it is unsafe and falling apart and they have no funds to replace it. Estimated cost for a new wooden set is $2,000, they also need new mulch in the play area at this point what they have is very old and it is not safe for the kids as they are always hurting their feet on it. The cost to replace entire area with rubber mulch is $800. The club will assemble the playhouse as well as install the rubber mulch. Timeline will be dependent on equipment arrival. Once equipment has arrived we will tear down the old playhouse and dispose of it, lay the new mulch, and then assemble the new playhouse within a month. This project will greatly impact woman and children that are at risk of domestic violence, sexual assault and other abuse issues in 8 counties of south central Idaho. Each year the crisis center shelters thousands of woman and their children. Seventy five percent of the women who come bring their children. The crisis center reaches thousands of people each year with it's services. Without community assistance they are unable to shelter these abused woman and children. Our goal in this project is to help the crisis center have a fun, safe and healing environment for children that have experienced trauma due to domestic violence, physical/mental abuse, sexual abuse and so many other inconceivable, unspeakable life events.

Held our annual fundraiser and was able to earn the funds to support our grant and complete the project. Contacted the Crisis Center with the good news and they are getting us the information to order the items.

Club met and made the final decision on which playhouse to order. We went online and ordered the playhouse. We also discussed increasing the cement pad to accommodate the size of the new playhouse being larger then the old playhouse.

Notice received that playhouse has been shipped

5-May-15

Travis from Idaho Concrete company went out to increase the size of our cement pad and decided that the existing pad would need to be completely removed. Idaho Concrete agreed to remove the old pad and lay a pad large enough to accommodate the new playhouse.
